KJBN Labs is a small product lab that thinks long. Now that AI has made building cheap, the advantage has moved to the front — to the questions and judgment that come before any code. We put our best thinking there, together, and build things meant to outlast the hype.
Good thinking is most of the work.
Find the real question
The first and hardest task is asking the right thing. Answer the wrong question flawlessly and you've still failed — just expensively, and a little later.
Think long
We make decisions we'd still defend in ten years, not just this quarter. We'd rather build something that compounds quietly than something that spikes and rots.
Doubt the premise
The riskiest assumption is the one nobody is questioning. We poke hardest at the things everyone already agrees on — including our own.
The domain doesn't scare us
A good question travels. Drop us into an unfamiliar field and within weeks we'll be asking sharper ones than people who've been there for years.
We pulled the hard part to the front.
When AI makes building cheap, the leverage moves to the start of the process. So we shift left — dragging the questions, the judgment, and the disciplines that used to come last all the way to the front, while decisions are still cheap to change.
Engineering, Product, and Design don't take turns.
No hand-offs down a line — product decides, design dresses, engineering builds. The three sit in the same room from the start, so every trade-off is made by everyone, early, when it still costs almost nothing to change your mind.
The thing we're proudest of isn't a product. It's the room.
Ask what KJBN Labs does and the honest answer is: whatever the people in it are excited to work out. A room of people who question well — and like doing it together — will out-think a room that merely shares a mission. The work changes; the room is the point.
